On September 22, the signing ceremony for the Headquarters R&D and Manufacturing Project for Lvkon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Electric Drive System was held at the conference center in Wujiang District, Suzhou.

Attending the event were Wu Qingwen, deputy secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Suzhou; Gu Haidong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and vice mayor of Suzhou; Li Ming, vice chairman of the CPPCC Suzhou Municipal Committee and secretary of the CPC Wujiang District Committee; Yu Yu, secretary-general of the Suzhou Municipal Government; Sun Jianjiang, deputy secretary of the CPC Wujiang District Committee and acting district mayor; Li Lei, chairman and general manager of Suzhou Lvkon Transmission Technology Co., Ltd.; and Song Jian, professor, doctoral supervisor, and deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Automotive Safety and Energy at Tsinghua University, who were present to witnessed the signing.

Lvkon is an innovative leading enterprise focused on the power transmission systems of new energy commercial vehicles. Its products span three technological paths: pure electric, fuel cell, and hybrid, and are widely used in trucks, buses, non-road mobile machinery, and other fields.

After more than a decade of innovative development, Lvkon has successfully positioned itself among the “first-tier” providers of key components for new energy vehicles in China. The company has been included in the list of the top 100 core components for China’s intelligent electric vehicles and has received honors, such as the title of national specialized and sophisticated “little giants” and the second prize for the National Award for Science and Technology Progress.

The signed investment project focuses on the manufacturing of electric drive systems for new energy commercial vehicles. The project will be developed in three phases to gradually expand production capacity. The first phase will involve the construction of R&D and manufacturing facilities on existing land, with technological improvements aimed at increasing output. In the second phase, a smart factory and R&D facilities will be established on newly acquired land to further boost annual production capacity. In the final phase, the project will continue expansion by adding smart manufacturing spaces on additional land to significantly improve the annual production capacity for electric drive systems in new energy light commercial vehicles.

Sun Jianjiang remarked at the signing ceremony that in recent years, Wujiang’s four 100-billion-yuan industries—high-end textiles, new-generation information technology, high-end equipment, and new materials—have continued to solidify their advantages, and the new energy industry, positioned as the strategic emerging industry, is accelerating towards a 100-billion-yuan scale. Lvkon stands as a prime exemplar of private enterprises that have taken rooted and thrived in Wujiang. The R&D and manufacturing project signed today will greatly bring the company’s R&D innovation, product quality, and market scale to a new level while contributing to Wujiang’s drive for high-quality development. The CPC Wujiang District Committee and District Government will, as always, provide good service, strengthen policy supply, and improve resource support. They will remain committed to building a world-class business environment grounded in market principles, governed by the rule of law, and aligned with global benchmarks for the development of enterprises.

Li Lei, chairman and general manager of Lvkon, stated that over the 13 years of the company’s development, it has received strong support from the governments and leaders at all levels in Suzhou. In recent years, the electrification of passenger vehicles has rapidly progressed, while the electrification of commercial vehicles has just begun. To seize this once-in-a-century opportunity, Lvkon has adhered to independent innovation, continuously invested in technological R&D, and relied on “hardcore” technologies to become a new engine for driving the industry. Once the signed project reaches full production, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 9.5 billion yuan, a net profit of over 1 billion yuan, and tax revenue of 360 million yuan. In the context of the electrification revolution, Lvkon will continue to innovate, research, and strive to lead the electric drive market for commercial vehicles in China and expand into global markets, building a world-renowned “Made in China” and “Created in China” brand.

Leaders from Wujiang District, Suzhou, including Yang Bin, Li Wenbin, Qian Yu, Shen Weijiang, and Chen Qi, also attended the event.
